gone are my days as a pageant contestant,
but in honor of way-back wednesday,
i thought i might add a laugh to your day!
summer 1991
i truly loved the pageant circuit -- getting to meet new people, travel,
attend luncheons, give speeches, the clothes...
i really had a great time, learned a lot and enjoyed the competition.
the contestants summer 1991
don't you just love all the big hair?
clearly i was inspired by the Pretty Woman polka-dot dress!

but the pageant is a flavor of the south that many of my northern friends just don't get...and i cannot even begin to convince mr prep
that muffy should enter.
it's fun to re-live the memories, i promise to post more photos from my pageant days, but these were the photos i had handy today!
Look at you! Absolutely adorable! I did a few pageants as well as a young girl, but it was my sister who started in them as a baby. It is definitely a phenomenon down South that the Yankees surely don't understand HAHA!! I'm sure you've seen the show Toddlers and Tiaras...crazy right?! ;)
ReplyDeleteTrue southern snapshots...Love it!!!
ReplyDeleteI would love for my prissy missy to be in pagents, but they have gotten such a bad rap from shows like Toddlers and Tiaras. And I don't think I could put up with the moms. Yuck!
ReplyDeleteThis is so cute! We did debutante balls but that's about it in STL. Love the idea of Way Back Wednesday - I may have to do that this summer when I'm at home with all kinds of pictures (which should be scanned into a compute anyway)! Happy Wednesday!
ReplyDeleteWell I'm a Yankee and I can understand it. You look great! I can't wait to see more photos and maybe hear some stories about it.
ReplyDeleteY'all are too cute with your big Southern hair! I think they can be a wonderful experience for girls and wish I had participated growing up... what's the age cut off for Miss America??? ;) (I kid)
ReplyDeletePagents are not what they used to be "back in the day". The stage Moms have ruined it. Your pictures are lovely.
ReplyDeleteI wish I couldve been in pageants! I tried to find one here to enter my son in but *sigh* it just isnt the done thing here :O(
ReplyDeleteLove these! Especially love the length of the first dress. :) Thanks for sharing. I definitely remember the floral dress trend.
ReplyDeleteI love these pictures!! I wish '90s hair would come back into style, because that's exactly what I look like without a straightener.
ReplyDeleteThose pictures are precious!
ReplyDeleteI knew you must have worn a tiara! Me too! :) xoxo
